Drumming and humor were the basis of our friendship. In the late 80s and early 90s, Dave and I would get together at least once a week in my drum room and show each other our latest drumming stuff. We inspired each other to get better. Sometimes, however, we'd get to laughing so hard at something that we could barely drum. In later years, I only saw him about once a year if that, but we'd have lengthy (like 2 hour) phone conversations and catch each other up on our lives. It was plain to see that his daughters were the apple of his eye. He'd always end conversations with "I love you, buddy" and he told me recently (after a mutual friend had passed away) that he always tells the people he loves that he loves them "because.... you never know." OK, here's a funny story involving Dave. When we were younger, Dave had this awesome hair that was like a foot long or longer. After a night on the town for the two of us, he asked if he could crash on my couch rather than drive after having a few beers. The next morning, I walked down the driveway to his car with him. My very elderly condo neighbor Roger, who was always paying way too much attention to other people's business says to me: "That girl you slept with last night.... Not very pretty!!" I retold Dave that story recently and we had a great laugh. Godspeed Dave. Love you, buddy.
